Welcome to the Ontario Remembers Website. This site was first developed in the spring of 2004 in recognition of the 60th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, and the contribution of Ontarians to the war effort.
The website was expanded during 2005, which the Government of Canada declared the Year of the Veteran. This year commemorated a number of significant anniversaries, including the 60th anniversaries of:
While we can never adequately thank those who gave their lives and those who risked their lives, we can honour them in times of both war and peacekeeping. We can remember their courage and their love for our country, and we can help future generations remember them. Let us be forever grateful that their sacrifices allow us to live in this great country in freedom and democracy.
Ontario Remembers is a partnership of the Province of Ontario, the Government of Canada and the City of Toronto, in collaboration with veterans organizations. We encourage you to bookmark this site and visit it often to learn about events being planned across the province, the country, and internationally.
