Ontario Public Libraries: 2007 Annual Survey

For the 2007 annual survey, all libraries and organizations that contract for library service with Internet access are required to e-file their annual surveys.

Copies of the annual survey provided on this website are for reference purposes only. Information on e-filing and survey deadlines are provided in the annual survey letters sent to libraries and contracting municipalities, local services boards and First Nations Bands.

Annual Survey of Public Libraries Forms:

Annual Survey For Municipalities, Local Services Boards and First Nations Bands that Contract for Library Service:

Typical Week Survey

We ask public libraries to measure activities in their libraries during a typical week in November. A typical week is one with no holidays. This information is then used by the library to compile information for the 2007 Annual Survey of Public Libraries. By recording the use of libraries and library materials in a typical week, we can make an assessment of the total use of libraries and materials for the year.

Libraries are expected to record specific activity measures during their typical week for each library service point. The measures to be recorded include circulation, in-library materials use, use of electronic information resources, reference inquiries, and visits to the library (both walk-in and electronic).More detailed information, including instructions for libraries about how to interpret and fill out the survey form, is included in the survey form document.
