Culture Minister Aileen Carroll was at the Royal Ontario Museum to help showcase the new Shreya and Mina Ajmera Gallery.

The new Gallery will be housed in the Michael Lee Chin Crystal, part of a massive expansion and renovation project at the ROM. The Ontario Government contributed $42 million to 'Renaissance ROM'.

The Ministry of Culture is providing additional one-time funding in the amount of $12.1 million to support the Royal Ontario Museum with a solid foundation for sustainability. This investment is part of the government’s strategic commitment to a Stronger Ontario through new investments in key Ontario sectors like the entertainment and creative cluster.

Ontario’s entertainment and creative cluster is the third largest in North America by employment after California and New York. In the past ten years, employment in the entertainment and creative cluster has grown at twice the rate as the overall Ontario economy, creating over 80,000 net new jobs.

The ROM welcomes between 750,000 to over a million visitors annually, including 150,000 students. During this year's March Break, there was a 76% attendance increase compared to the previous year.
