Minister carroll tours essex county
Culture Minister and Minister Responsible for Seniors Aileen Carroll visited Essex County on February 3 to tour heritage sites, kick off Black History Month and meet with seniors.

Lyle Browning, president of the board of the North American Black Historical Museum (NABHM) in Amherstburg, greets Minister Carroll in front of the Nazrey African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Church was a final stop for blacks escaping slavery in the U.S. during the 19th century. The NABHM offers lectures, workshops, interpretive tours, changing exhibits and research into the Underground Railroad and black settlement in south western Ontario. |
Janet Cobban, curator of the John R. Park Homestead Conservation Area in Harrow, gives Minister Carroll and Bruce Crozier, MPP Essex, a tour of the 1842 neo-classical home. The Homestead, which currently undergoing renovations, is the only living history farm museum west of London. It celebrated its 30th anniversary as a museum in the fall of 2008. |
