ONTARIO STRENGTHENING CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS  

McGuinty Government Investing In Cultural Industry, Boosting Economy

Ontario is boosting the economy by investing in its world-class cultural attraction agencies to support the innovative programming and collections that attract millions of visitors and to help Ontario compete on the international stage.

The Province is providing more than $43 million in new funding this year to six cultural attraction agencies in the Greater Toronto Area, including:

  • the Art Gallery of Ontario
  • the McMichael Canadian Art Collection
  • the Ontario Heritage Trust
  • the Ontario Science Centre
  • the Royal Botanical Gardens
  • the Royal Ontario Museum


As part of today’s announcement, $25 million represents a new, permanent increase to the annual operating funding for these agencies, the first increase in over a decade.
