Survey – how our communities are planning for culture

We wanted to get an idea of how many municipal goverments were planning for culture in their communities, so we commissioned a study called the Ontario Municipal Cultural Planning Inventory Project. 

The 2004 survey provides an overview of how many Ontario communities incorporate culture in their municipal plans.

You’ll find out  –

• Who has cultural plans or policies in place
• How municipalities are planning for culture
• Where the responsibility for culture lies within municipalities (e.g. parks and recreation department)
• Examples of good practices in cultural plans or policies.

This survey provides us with information that will allow us to –

• Measure how effective we’ve been in promoting the planning for culture in our communities
• Determine the impact of municipal cultural planning in individual communities.
